Dice editions look like an aesthetic whim and are actually a compliance instrument. In a handful of regulated markets, most famously Belgium with its dice-game tradition, gaming law distinguishes between game categories in ways that favor dice-styled titles. That is why the changes stop at the surface. Pragmatic did the same to the original game as Gates of Olympus Dice, and to other franchises besides.

For players outside dice-regulated markets the edition is simply a skin choice, with one pleasant quirk: some operators list 1000 Dice with a higher $250 bet ceiling than the standard edition's $100. The franchise's naming reaches peak confusion here, because there are two dice editions and search engines blur them:

Identifying which one a casino has given you takes five seconds: the loading screen carries the full title, and the info screen's max win line settles it beyond doubt, 5,000x or 15,000x.

Which to pick mirrors the standard-edition question: the base Dice edition distributes value a little more evenly, the 1000 Dice edition concentrates it in a bigger top end.
